The capital campaign entitled “Sowing the Seeds of Mercy” has begun.  Our Campaign Committee chose that theme for a variety of

reasons. During the summer, we heard the parable of the “Sower and the Seed,” which teaches us about the generosity of God’s word and life and

the abundantharvest that it yields. As a young parish, we have experienced this generosity of God as He sows the seeds of faith, love, service and

mercy among us.  These are taking root in us and growing gradually in the Davisburg community.  We see the results of this growth, as our youth

offer their gifts for the good of the community, as we expand our faith formation opportunities, as we reach out to new members, as we expand our

Christian Service and as more people take on ministerial responsibilities.  Look, how our Sunday choir has grown and our Generations of Faith ha

s expanded.

We will be building our new parish center on land that once was farmed.  Farmers understand the rich yield from the sowing of seeds.  As

we build a place that we can call our own, our parish will grow even further in faith and charity, as well as in membership.  There will be so many

more dynamic ways in which we can be a source of spiritual life and center for prayer for this area.

Our committee also recognized our unique call as a parish community to represent the mercy of God in our community.  Our center will

help us to reach out to those in need, expanding our Christian Service.  It will motivate us to reach out to those who are looking for greater

meaning in their lives, who have hardly been touched by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  It will aid us in our desire to invite those who have been

away from the church to discover anew the richness of life in Christ through the Church.  God’s mercy is found in compassion, evangelization,

reconciliation, justice and peace.  Our parish center will help us to sow these seeds of mercy even more effectively.

I am sure that as we begin our Capital Campaign that every parishioner wants, in some way, to be a part of this sowing.  We look

forward to a bountiful harvest some day.  Please pray for the success of our Campaign.
